Creating an IRIS Alert Service Record

Creating an IRIS Alert Service record is a two-step process:

Step 1. Register. This is where you assign yourself a login ID and password. Please jot down your login ID and password and keep them someplace safe but handy, for future reference. You will need your login and password to edit or delete your alert service record.

IF YOU HAVE ALREADY REGISTERED FOR THE IRIS EXPERTISE SERVICE, there is no need to register separately for the alert service. You can use your current login ID and password and move directly to...

Step 2. Fill out the Basic Information form. Please enter your e-mail address carefully and make sure that it is correct before submitting your information. Providing complete information will make it easier for us and your campus research officer to help you if there is a problem.

Select how often you would like your alert profile run (daily, weekly, monthly) and how you would like the results delivered to you. You have two choices for delivery method: by e-mail, or posted to a World-Wide Web page that we will set up for you here at the University of Illinois. We suggest that you have your search results posted to the Web page. Viewing your search results on the Web is generally easier than wading through a long e-mail message. Also, it will eliminate the possibility of overloading your e-mail account.

Create a search statement for your IRIS Alert Service profile to use.

When you have finished entering your basic information, click on the "Save" button at the bottom of the page. You may have to use the scrollbar to reach this button.

If you have questions about using the IRIS Alert Service, give us a call at (217) 333-0284, or send us an email
